The covers pictured here (Wuthering
Heights by Emily Brontë and What is the What by Dave Eggers) were designed to complement each other and both
use type in innovative ways. The solution to Wuthering Heights depicts
imagery about the decay of innocence through photographs of dying
flowers combined with playful hand drawn typography. I intentionally chose this unlikely combination in order to appeal to a younger audience. What is the What - about the journey of a lost boy from the Sudan - used flowing type to convey a sense of travel and features a subtle illustration of the protagonist's face in the background.
